Carpal tunnel syndrome
The carpal tunnel runs through the wrist. It serves as a passageway for nerves leading to the muscles that flex the fingers. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the nerve (the median nerve) passing through the carpal tunnel becomes compressed.
