Compression after aesthetic or reconstructive plastic surgery

As a plastic surgeon, physician, or nurse specializing in aesthetic surgery, you want to provide your patients with the best possible overall experience. We offer a wide range of compression products for use following breast, abdominal, gluteal, and leg surgeries. These products help ensure a comfortable and effective recovery for the patient, leading to better results.

The products can be used immediately after surgery and throughout the entire recovery period. Compression helps improve blood circulation and lymphatic flow. This supports better healing and reduces the risk of complications.

The right bra after breast surgery

After breast surgery, patients are advised to wear a post-operative bra that provides the right support and an appropriate level of compression. Clinical evidence shows that the right type of bra can lead to better treatment outcomes. A recent research study found that the Mirabelle post-operative bra was the most effective type of bra for relieving symptoms and improving mobility after breast surgery.

It is important that the bra worn after surgery does not chafe or put pressure on sensitive skin. That is why our bras have no irritating seams and are made from extra-soft, gentle materials certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.

The design makes the bras easy to put on and adjust, both for patients and healthcare professionals. Mirabelle, Klara and Victoria are examples of fully opening post-operative bras that fasten at the front, making them easy to put on and take off, even when the patient is lying down. Sandra is a slightly lighter, less supportive bra that is often worn as a stage 2 bra.

Abdominal binder after abdominoplasty

After an abdominoplasty or abdominal liposuction, a post-operative abdominal binder provides supportive compression, helps relieve strain and can reduce pain. The binder helps the skin retract evenly and smoothly and reduces the risk of complications such as oedema, necrosis, infections, hernia formation and wound dehiscence.

For a comfortable and effective recovery, it is important that the binder provides the right support and level of compression and fits the patient's body shape and needs. Our binders are therefore available in several designs, heights, sizes and materials. The extensive fastening areas on several of our binders make it easy to adjust compression and fit as needed. Some binders can also be cut to the desired height and shape. All binders open and close with hook-and-loop fasteners, making it easy to change wound dressings without having to lift the patient. The versatility and flexibility of our post-operative binders help make them easier to use for both patients and healthcare professionals.

AbdoCare is one of our most flexible and popular post-operative binders, with hook-and-loop fastening across the entire fabric surface. ViraX2 and ViraX3 are two other popular binders, made from smooth, soft and supportive material. They feature adjustable drawstrings that can easily be tightened to achieve the desired level of support.

Compression garments after abdominoplasty

After minor abdominal surgery and liposuction, patients are advised to wear compression garments to support a comfortable recovery and optimal healing. Our compression bodysuit Daisy opens fully, making it easy to put on immediately after surgery. The size and compression level of Daisy can be easily adjusted using a three-stage hook-and-eye fastening.

All our compression garments feature anatomically shaped knitted zones to provide the right support and compression where needed. Our bodysuits Daisy, Cindy and Alison, as well as the trousers Peggy, have additional reinforcement around the abdomen, making them particularly effective after abdominoplasty. The garments are seamless and feature flexible four-way stretch fabric that adapts to each individual's body. The fabric allows the skin to breathe and wicks away moisture. To ensure good hygiene, the garments are machine washable at temperatures of up to 60°C.

After more extensive abdominal surgery, a compression garment can be used in combination with an abdominal binder. The operated area should always be covered as much as possible.

After abdominoplasty, it is recommended that the binder or compression garment be worn day and night for 3–4 weeks and during the day for up to 8 weeks.

Compression for other areas of the body

After surgery or liposuction involving other areas, such as the buttocks, arms, legs or back, it is important to choose a garment that provides the appropriate compression for the treated area. This is essential for achieving the best possible recovery and final results. For example, patients undergoing a BBL or buttock lift should wear the Peggy trousers or one of our bodysuits, Cindy or Dolly. For various treatments involving the legs and thighs, our trousers Annie, Patsy or Peggy can provide the appropriate compression. Our bodysuit and trouser models feature different gusset designs to accommodate different needs. For arm or back surgery and liposuction, Jill is an effective option. Dolly is our most covering bodysuit and is particularly suitable when the entire body has been treated.

CE-marked products

All our post-operative products are CE-marked as Class I medical devices in accordance with the EU regulation. This means they are safe to use for their intended medical indications. The general recommendation after cosmetic surgery and liposuction is to use a compression garment providing a compression level equivalent to Class 1 compression (15–21 mmHg).
