Description 

Arcus is designed to preventive relieve pressure from the heel or relieve already existing heel ulcers, during bed rest. Arcus prevents contracture of the ankle. The orthosis fixate the foot in a neutral position during bed rest, as well as maintains the dorsiflexion during movement. 

The orthosis is provided with an anti-rotation brace that counteracts inward and outward rotations in knee and hip joint, when bedridden. The orthosis is lined with a soft, removable padding material that is releasable over the heel. The heel portion is composed of transparent plastic which means that the orthosis does not need to be removed during an inspection of the skin or wounds. The degree of the dorsiflexion can be fixed/increased due to the adjustable Velcro straps on each side.   

Arcus can be left on if the patient quickly needs to move, as the rubber sole provides a good grip. The toe component, at a 15 degree angle, provides good stability for the forefoot during movement, it is adjustable to larger shoe sizes. The footplate can be removed, easy application with help of Velcro straps.

Indications

To relieve/prevent heel ulcer when in bed position. Prevents contracture in the ankle. Counteracts hip rotation. Contraindications: Unstable ankle fracture. Use caution in case of decreased sensibility in the foot.

Contraindications

Not intended for walking. Can handle weight during shorter locomotions.

Size guide and measuring

The calf circumference measurement is in cm. Two sizes that fit the right/left. 

S/M = The calf circumference < 42 cm. 

L/XL =The calf circumference < 48 cm.
