Orthoses for arm and elbow injuries
In fractures and other injuries to the upper arm and elbow, the right support can be an important part of treatment. Our orthoses are designed to provide stability, relieve stress on the injured area and, when appropriate, enable a controlled return to movement. The range includes solutions for both fracture treatment and rehabilitation following, for example, surgery or cast removal.
Stability and controlled movement during healing
When a fracture occurs, it is important that the injured area is given the right conditions to heal. Depending on the location and extent of the fracture, treatment may need to restrict certain movements, while in other situations it may be desirable for adjacent joints to move as normally as possible. HumerusComfort, HumerusStabil Kort and CubitiComfort are orthoses that can be used for fractures of the upper arm bone, humerus, to provide support and contribute to controlled healing.
The HumerusComfort fracture orthosis is designed for fractures of the upper arm bone, humerus. Its surrounding support and compression help stabilise the fracture area while allowing movement in the shoulder and elbow joints where appropriate. HumerusStabil Kort is another fracture orthosis used to stabilise the humerus and is designed to limit unwanted movement between the fracture segments. CubitiComfort can also be used for humeral fractures, particularly when support and controlled movement around the elbow joint are needed.
For fractures around the elbow, CubitiComfort can provide support during both treatment and rehabilitation. The range of motion can be regulated and adapted to the individual’s needs, which can be valuable as treatment progresses from more strict immobilisation to gradually increased mobility.
E-motion elbow orthosis is designed to control range of motion. By adjusting the degree of flexion and extension, the joint can be limited to the range of motion appropriate for the current stage of treatment. In this way, movement can be controlled and gradually adjusted during rehabilitation. It can be used, among other things, after surgery, following cast removal or during conservative treatment.

From stabilisation to rehabilitation
The treatment of a fracture or elbow injury often changes over time. In the early phase, the priority may be to protect the injured area and limit strain. As healing progresses, the focus may instead shift towards mobility, function and a gradual return to everyday activities.
Regaining mobility in the elbow is particularly important, as the joint can easily become stiff after a period of immobilisation. At the same time, increased movement and loading need to be introduced at the right pace to avoid compromising healing. An adjustable orthosis can therefore be a valuable aid when range of motion needs to be increased gradually and according to an individual treatment plan.
The appropriate model depends, among other things, on the extent of the fracture or injury, its location and the stage of treatment. The choice should therefore be made in consultation with the treating healthcare professional, who will also determine how long the support should be used and when movement and loading can be increased.
