Our knees help us to walk, run, travel, stand up to participate in all our activities and therefore important to take care of in the best way. For a knee to work optimally, both mobility and stability are required. The joint surfaces in the knee joint are cartilage-covered, three in number, between the femur and lower leg, as well as between the femur and the knee joint and make the movement take place without friction. Stability is the ligament of the knee, the side ligaments (medial and lateral collateral ligaments) and the anterior and posterior ligaments located in the middle of the knee joint. The meniscus lie between the joint surfaces, between the femur and the lower leg and act as a shock absorber. The muscles around the knee joint seem to both stabilize and create movement. Joint areas, muscles and ligaments are at their best when they are allowed to work, this is when they are fed and strength, agility and strength are maintained.
An injury in the knee joint can occur through a trauma, an accident or getting stealthy for a long time. The disorder can sit in one of the structures and is best examined by a physiotherapist or orthopedist.
In order to relieve the knee, for example after muscle damage, surgery or at osteoarthritis, a knee orthosis is very helpful in regaining function in the knee joint again. NordiCare has several different knee orthoses to offer.
